JSOU Holds 2025 Student Honors Ceremony

On the afternoon of January 9, Jiangsu Open University (City Vocational College of Jiangsu) held its 2025 Student Honors Ceremony at the Yingtian Campus Gymnasium. The event was attended by university leadership, faculty representatives, and guests including Xing Yan from the Jiangsu Disability Culture and Sports Guidance Center, industry professors Li Renmin and Yao Shu, and outstanding alumna Rong Jing.

Address: Learning as a Lifelong Journey

In his keynote speech, Party Secretary Ding Rongyu congratulated the award-winning students and emphasized the value of persistent effort. Drawing from the Letters of Liang Qichao, he encouraged students to strive for excellence. He outlined three aspirations for students: embed lifelong learning into personal growth; leverage the university’s open and integrated resources to pursue interdisciplinary innovation; and align personal development with societal needs, combining rigorous study with broad engagement to realize one’s full potential through service to society.

Awards: Recognizing Excellence Across Categories

President Zhang Yingchun presented the President’s Commendation to Kang Su, Peng Zhengyang, and Zhang Pingkang, open education students from the School of Public Administration who won gold medals at the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games.

 

Other awards were presented by Vice Presidents Liu Guiyou, Zhang Xiao, Geng HuanTong, Han Chenghui, and Yang Yu to students recognized for achievements in skills competitions, cultural and sports events, national and university scholarships, advanced classes, model dormitories, outstanding students, and student leadership.

Stories: Student Experiences and Achievements

Athletes and coaches from the National Games shared their experiences. Public Administration School students collectively won six gold, nine silver, and nine bronze medals at the Games, demonstrating perseverance and competitive spirit.

Additional student honorees shared their journeys: Zhang Xuan from the Business School spoke on balancing academic excellence with skill development; Xin Tianle from the School of Architectural Engineering recounted her research journey in the “Challenge Cup” competition; Huo Yunsi from the Changzhou campus discussed career planning and skill-building; Yin Yunjie from the School of Rural Revitalization described transforming agricultural challenges into research projects; and Jiang Yilin from the School of Design shared how her dormitory group supported each other in pursuing their goals.

Highlights: Inspiring Moments

A video titled Walking Toward the Light showcased students engaged in learning, research, and competitions. A short film featuring messages from parents added a warm, encouraging note to the ceremony.

The event concluded with a choral performance of A Flower for You, with faculty presenting flowers to students.

The ceremony celebrated student accomplishments while reinforcing the university’s commitment to open, diverse education and lifelong learning.
