On March 10, JSOU Party Secretary Ding Rongyu led a delegation to the HIT Zhenjiang High-End Equipment Institute and Zhenjiang Open University for a research visit focused on the development of a technical industry college specializing in the digital and intelligent transformation of the manufacturing industry. He was accompanied by Vice President Geng Huantong, along with staff from the School of Information Engineering and the School Office.
Morning Visit: HIT Zhenjiang High-End Equipment Institute
The Institute is a collaborative research platform established by the Zhenjiang High-Tech Zone Administrative Committee and the School of Mechatronics Engineering of Harbin Institute of Technology, focusing on international cooperation, electrical automation, industrial internet and big data, semiconductors, and robotics.

Deputy Director Wang Hongrong welcomed the delegation and briefed them on the Institute’s current activities, core business areas, and plans for industry-education collaboration. He highlighted the Institute’s “shared robot” project for smart welding robot operation and maintenance in the shipbuilding industry, expressing interest in working with JSOU to train skilled personnel, deliver technical training, and support vocational education going global. During a tour of the exhibition hall, Wang presented key technological breakthroughs and results related to high-end equipment for Jiangsu’s shipbuilding industry.
Secretary Ding Rongyu outlined JSOU’s educational mission and the strategic positioning of the planned technical industry college for the digital and intelligent transformation of manufacturing. He noted that from the national strategy for developing China’s shipbuilding industry, industry-education integration is essential for meeting regional talent needs. He emphasized that the university is seizing opportunities from policy support, industry drivers, and technological empowerment to accelerate the development of an “AI + manufacturing” talent cultivation system. He described the Institute as a key partner with strong technical expertise and established industry applications that could support the construction of the proposed industry college, suggesting a starting point in intelligent welding applications to jointly develop a service-oriented training model and high-level industry-education integration system.
Afternoon Visit: Zhenjiang Open University
In the afternoon, the delegation met with Zhenjiang Open University leaders including President Li Li. President Li presented the university’s work on industry college development, the formation of city-level industry-education consortia, and the establishment of industry-specific education-education communities. The two sides had in-depth discussions on the quality development of open education, industry-education integration in vocational education, and system-wide coordination. The delegation also visited the National Billiards Industry-Education Integration Community Practice Center and Billiards Industry College, exchanging views with faculty and staff on their organizational structure, operating mechanisms, and internal governance.
