Recently, the National Robot Competition University League (Anhui) concluded in Hefei. The “Pioneer” team from Jiangsu Open University (JSOU) won the Infantry Robot Combat championship with a flawless record, demonstrating strong technical capabilities and teamwork. Their self-developed robotic system received high praise for mechanical performance, visual recognition, and tactical coordination, highlighting the university’s effective practice-oriented education.

During preparation, the team engaged in systematic training and inter-university exchanges, continuously refining technical solutions and competition strategies. Guided by a commitment to openness and sharing, the team made its core algorithms and technical solutions publicly available, with many adopted by other universities. During the competition, several universities conducted in-depth technical discussions with the JSOU team, exchanging insights on mechanical design, control algorithms, and visual recognition.
In recent years, JSOU has focused on strengthening engineering programs and cultivating innovative talent through high-level practice platforms, hosting two consecutive “Open Cup” robot competitions to foster a positive learning environment. The university is accelerating the development of its technical industry college for the digital and intelligent transformation of manufacturing, deepening industry-education and research-education integration, and providing full-chain support for students in engineering practice, technological innovation, and comprehensive skill development.
JSOU’s “Pioneer” club has been recognized as a “Vibrant Student Club” in Jiangsu Province and has achieved notable results in national competitions such as the “Challenge Cup,” leading to successful student outcomes in both further education and high-quality employment. This championship marks another milestone in the university’s practice-oriented teaching and talent development.

The competition, hosted by the University of Science and Technology of China, brought together top universities from across the country and serves as a highly influential platform in robotics engineering education in China.
