On June 11–12, the 2026 Shanghai-Jiangsu Symposium on AI Program Cluster Development and AI+ Teaching Innovation was held at Jiangsu Open University. Themed Human-Machine Collaboration, Symbiotic Integration, the event focused on AI program cluster development, AI teaching innovation, industry-education integration, and talent cultivation, aiming to promote high-quality AI education in vocational institutions.
The symposium was guided by the Jiangsu Association for Artificial Intelligence and the AI Committee of the Jiangsu Electronic Information Vocational Education Steering Committee. It was hosted by Jiangsu Open University and Newland Era Hi-Tech Company, and co-organized by Nanjing Vocational College of Information Technology and Suzhou Vocational Institute of Industrial Technology.
On the morning of June 12, opening remarks were delivered by Fang Wei, Secretary-General of the Jiangsu Association for Artificial Intelligence; Geng Huantong, Director of the AI Committee and Party Standing Committee Member and Vice President of JSOU; and Zhou Hongyao, Deputy General Manager of Newland Era Hi-Tech. Geng Huantong called for deeper collaboration between universities, local governments, and enterprises to strengthen AI program development and teaching reform.
Keynote speakers included He Miao (Nanjing Vocational College of Information Technology) on AI teaching practices and solutions to current challenges; Wang Yan (Xi'an Aviation Vocational and Technical College) on professional teaching standards; and Cai Huafu (Newland Era Hi-Tech) on AI talent demand, job standards, and digital education directions. Other industry guests discussed industry-education integration, embodied intelligence talent cultivation, and data talent development.
Following the symposium, the AI Committee held its second meeting, establishing three working groups focused on program development and teaching standards, teaching reform and resource building, and faculty development and industry-education integration.
The symposium served as a platform connecting industry, enterprises, and institutions. Moving forward, participants will deepen collaboration to advance integrated reforms in curricula, teaching materials, faculty, and facilities, contributing to the coordinated development of Shanghai-Jiangsu AI industry and vocational education.
